Candle care
To ensure your soy candles burn long and stay safe, it's important to give them proper care. Here are some helpful tips.
How to care for soy candles with a wooden wick?
First burning
When using a candle for the first time, it is very important that the entire surface layer is melted. This helps to prevent hollows and ensures that the candle burns evenly. For smaller candles, burn for at least 1 hour, for larger candles, burn for at least 1.5 hours.
Cut the wick
Before each candle is lit, it is a good idea to trim the wick to about 3-5 mm. This helps keep the flame smaller, so the candle will burn longer, more evenly, and will not get sooted. You can trim the wick with a special wick trimmer or fine scissors.
Repeated wick extinguishing
If the candle repeatedly goes out, let it rest for a while, or, for example, use a tissue to remove some liquid wax from the wick :).
Protect the candle from drafts.
Drafts can cause the candle to burn unevenly or create smoke trails. Remember to place a candle that is almost burned out on a mat to prevent the heat from damaging the surface underneath.
Safety first
Never forget basic safety rules when using candles. Do not place candles in dangerous places where they could ignite flammable objects. Do not leave candles unattended. Place a burning candle out of the reach of children and pets.
Watch the candle
While the candle is burning, make sure the flame remains medium-sized and does not become too large and unstable. If there are any problems, extinguish the candle and readjust the wick.
Avoid melting the candle
Do not let the candle burn for more than 2 hours to prevent the wax from melting. Melted wax can cause the candle to burn unevenly and discolor.
Soy candles are not only a beautiful addition, but also environmentally friendly. 🌱 With these tips, you can look forward to a long lifespan and safe use.
